Maxar is currently seeking a Communication Systems Engineer to join our Space Systems Architecture group. This position will be located in Palo Alto, California, with the opportunity for hybrid remote work.

In this role, you will be one of the engineers responsible for a subsystem or a major portion of a system, specializing in the RF Payload integration, test and verification of the payload. You will work with the team to identify design problems and implement corrective action. You may represent the company with customers or vendors when finding solutions to technical problems, and support or conduct design reviews.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops system requirements and system specifications
  • Performs requirements analysis and system trade studies
  • Supports system architecture design and system level testing
  • Leads RF system level test activities
  • Develops methods, standards, plans and procedures for systems engineering tools and systems tests
  • Analyzes operational issues and problems and implements corrective actions
  • Monitors and manages technical, cost, and schedule performance on internal efforts of limited complexity
  • Contributes to portions of technical proposals
  • Introduces innovative or creative techniques and solutions in specialty area
  • Leads the testing and troubleshooting of the RF payload during spacecraft integration and test

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Minimum of 5 years of RF relevant work experience plus a B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or related field. Four additional years of RF related experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience will also be considered.
  • Understanding of mathematics and physics as they relate to electrical systems and components
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Understanding of and proficiency in the use of computer aided design tools such as AWR Microwave Office, Advanced Design System (ADS), or Ansys HFSS
  • Some experience with C, VBA, Matlab, or Python desirable
