Construction Superintendent Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage on-site construction activities for our projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. The Construction Superintendent will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field staff to coordinate all aspects of construction operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight: Supervise all construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and specifications.
Safety Compliance: Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe and compliant worksite.
Subcontractor Coordination: Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure efficient workflow and quality craftsmanship.
Schedule Management: Develop and maintain construction schedules, tracking progress, and adjusting as needed to meet project deadlines.
Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets quality standards, design specifications, and contractual obligations.
Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and unexpected challenges to maintain project momentum.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of site activities. Communicate updates to project managers and stakeholders.
Budget & Cost Control: Monitor materials, labor, and equipment usage to ensure project stays within budget.
Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project goals and expectations are met.
Permitting & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with building codes, zoning laws, and permit requirements.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in construction supervision, preferably in commercial or multifamily construction.
Education: High school diploma required; a degree in construction management or a related field is a plus.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification preferred; additional safety or trade certifications are a plus.
Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading blueprints, interpreting specifications, and understanding construction methods.
Technology: Familiarity with project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily conducted on active construction sites.
Requires the ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in varying weather conditions.
Compensation & Benefits:
Package starts at 90k. This position can be a temporary position for the duration of the job, or a possible career position for a person looking for a growing construction company. Estimated duration is 16 months.
