Our project teams include specialists in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance oftele-data communications, audio/video, process control, building management and fire/safety installations.SUMMARYThe Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer of Dynalectric Company – San Diego and ensures that company goals and objectives are met by maintaining the integrity of the accounting and data processing systems by certifying that appropriate procedures and controls are in place to maintain compliance with GAAP, SEC, company and corporate reporting requirements.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Completion of timely month-end journal entries, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger account reconciliations.
Work to improve internal controls and processes.
Manage all data processing operations to ensure timely and accurate reporting as required.
Ensure financial and accounting functions, financial controls, and records meet all federal, state, local and company regulatory requirements.
Assist with work in areas such as treasury, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, taxes, etc.
Assists in preparation of financial reports for senior management.
Assist with audits, both internal and external.
Lead and participate in special projects as needed.
Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, direct, coordinate and evaluate the activities and performance of direct reports, including payroll and accounting personnel.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. CPA or MBA in accounting/finance, or related academic discipline is highly preferred, and 5 years professional experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance for an organization with $100M in revenue; or
Bachelor’s degree required in accounting/finance, or related academic discipline, and 10 years professional experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance for an organization with $100M in revenue.
Previous hands-on Staff Accountant / Financial Analysis background with month end closing, AR, AP, Payroll.
Knowledge of finance and accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
Excellent written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to all levels of Management
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on special projects
Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms.
Significant working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing financial and accounting practices.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Significant experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel) applications.
Proficient knowledge of PC based job cost, general ledger and fixed asset systems.
Proficient knowledge of financial/payroll software; Viewpoint Vista strongly favored.
Experience with P-Vault Enterprise Content Manager helpful.
