Controller

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a remote Controller role for a data center organization. The individual will be instrumental in shaping the financial structure, enhancing accounting processes, and contributing to the recruitment of the finance team. The role also involves providing expertise in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) selection and implementation.Responsibilities: Identify potential team members to build and develop a robust accounting and finance team. Establish and document standard practices for financial reporting, controls, and procedures. Provide hands-on support for various accounting functions, which include month-end closings, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Take a leadership role in the evaluation and selection of an ERP system to meet our company's needs. Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax regulations, and other financial policies. Collaborate with leadership to ensure the financial strategy aligns with our business objectives. Deliver insights on cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Support the transition from manual or legacy systems to a more streamlined, tech-enabled finance operation.Requirements

Real Estate background is required. REIT experience preferred.

CPA, CMA, or equivalent financial certification preferred.

7+ years of experience in accounting/finance leadership roles.

Prior experience with ERP selection and implementation.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial best practices.

Experience building and scaling accounting teams.

Proficiency in financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
