We are a corporate healthcare organization seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Controller/CFO to join our dynamic team. Must have healthcare experience working as a Controller of CFO. The Financial Controller/CFO will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth. This position requires a deep understanding of financial concepts, risk management, and corporate accounting practices.Qualifications
8+ years of experience working in accounting or finance
Staff training experience
Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with attention to detail
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand financial reports and performance
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to others
Quickly adapts to new market conditions, regulatory changes, and technological advancements
Strong leadership skills that inspire trust and encourage staff development
Proficient in accounting software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools
Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, and experience with online banking and other data platforms
Responsibilities / Qualifications
The controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records by managing all finance and accounting functions and implementing internal controls in accordance with regulatory standards
While working under direct supervision of the President & CEO.
This role will engage with both internal and external stakeholders while executing key job functions
Manage day-to-day financial operations: Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, electronic banking, monthly reconciliations, close month-end books; insurance payments, renewals, and workers’ comp audit
Adhere to accounting cycles: Ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and on time, and that financial statements are reconciled and reported (including explanations for variance analysis)
Demonstrated expertise in tax accounting practices and compliance requirements
Experience in cost management strategies that drive operational efficiency
Familiarity with risk management principles and their application in a corporate environment
Proven experience as a Controller or similar role, preferably in a healthcare/hospital environment
Maintain the general ledger: Oversee general ledger, including the year-end close process
Manage audit: Direct annual audit and 990 processes, serve as the principal liaison to the external auditor
Prepare financial reports: Create financial reports for stakeholders including grant funders, program staff, leadership team, and the board of directors
Develop budgets and strategies: Facilitate the annual budget process by collaborating with other departments
Support development initiatives: Create and monitor all grant budgets, process and track all forms of donations, including use of restricted funds
Support financial stability: Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
Implement best practices: Establish and update financial policies and operating procedures
Ensure compliance: Make sure the company's financial mechanisms conform to all local and national laws and guidelines and that controls are in place to identify and track eligible expenses
Staff training: Providing training for staff as needed
Implementing software and systems: Train staff to use systems and software that streamline processes
Staying current: Keeping up with the latest updates in the accounting and financial industry
Other duties as assigned
Works independently and in cooperation with staff and the board of directors
