About the Opportunity

The National Incident Response Team (NIRT), a national service provider for the Federal Reserve System (FRS), provides effective and efficient national intrusion detection, incident response, security intelligence, threat assessment, and vulnerability assessment services for the FRS. NIRT's mission is to play a leading role in the FRS' efforts to protect its information systems against unauthorized use.

NIRT's Detection Engineering (DE) team has an immediate opening for a motivated cyber professional to join as a Cybersecurity Analyst at the Experienced or Senior level.

The mission of NIRT's DE team, is to gather security centric data and information and facilitate its use through the design, engineering, implementation and support of tools and technology, in order to support NIRT's services and objectives as well as represent NIRT's interests in projects and initiatives within the FRS and Treasury. We focus on ensuring that the capabilities of NIRT's critical infrastructure remains relevant, and that it is continuously enhanced and evolved to meet new threats and evolving technological landscape.

As a DE Cybersecurity Analyst, you will develop and drive efforts to research, design, create, maintain, and enhance, relevant and capable detection, data correlation, information and mission support systems and processes to facilitate NIRT's various services. The scope of responsibilities includes efforts within the cloud, and on-premises, as well as other customer environments.

What You Will Do
  • Partner with National IT, NIRT and other partners to identify, obtain, examine, manipulate, intake, process, deliver and extract data and information to and from our infrastructure.
  • Research plan, design, build and maintain solutions that facilitate, and augment the delivery of NIRT's services.
  • Assist and participate in cybersecurity related projects and tasks.
  • Assist with coordination activities of Bank staff and vendor support personnel in resolving platform issues.
  • Analyze and resolve technical and non-technical issues.
  • Proactively identify and make recommendations around process improvements.
  • Provide consultation, assistance, and guidance, internally and externally, regarding various aspects of the requirements, tools, technologies and methods regarding NIRT's detection ecosystem infrastructure, and related services.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Systems Analysis, or a domain related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3+ years (Experienced) / 5+ years (Senior) of combined IT, security, with a broad range of exposure to systems analysis, application development, systems administration.
  • Experience deploying Amazon Web Services products and platforms. Knowledge of Lambda and Kinesis Data Firehose is a plus.
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Strong programming knowledge in Python. Other languages a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of security system design tools, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in supporting various operating systems and cloud-based technologies.
  • Skill in developing or recommending analytic approaches or solutions to problems and situations for which information is incomplete or for which no precedent exists.
  • Skill in reading, interpreting, writing, modifying, and executing simple scripts on Windows and Unix systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to interact with anticipated audiences in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
  • Ability to communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means.
  • Ability to design capabilities to find solutions to less common and more complex system problems.
  • Ability to apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements.
  • Works independently on broad assignments or under general directions as to scope or objectives.

    • Experienced Cybersecurity Analyst- $80,000 - $100,000 annually
    • Senior Cybersecurity Analyst- $93,000 - $116,200annually
  • The full Richmond, VA salary range(s):
    • Experienced Cybersecurity Analyst- $80,000 - $130,000 annually
    • Senior Cybersecurity Analyst- $93,000 - $151,100annually
  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience. For candidates not located in Richmond, VA, the salary range may beadjusted for your geographiclocation.
