Database Analyst Lead

Database Analyst LeadJob Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Database Analyst Lead for a contract to hire position in El Dorado Hills, CA. Position Summary: We are looking for a Lead Database Administrator (MongoDB/IBM Netezza), who will be working in a senior capacity as part of a team of DBAs. Working in collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, build, upgrade, modify and operationally administer new or existing databases on multiple database technology platforms in support of critical enterprise applications. Primary focus area would be MongoDB/Netezza.Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Acts as a database technology subject matter expert (Primary Focus areas - MongoDB and Netezza), providing technical leadership within the DBA team. Working with cross functional teams in building, scalable enterprise solutions.
• Designs, configures and manages highly available MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets.
• Establish and maintain performance baselines, troubleshoot performance issues, and provide recommendations/fixes for identified issues.
• Provides architectural guidelines to build and maintain scalable database environments.
• Creates, supports, and administers NoSQL and SQL databases.
• Recommends solutions that require the definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and required data security and data backup / recovery specifications.
• Ensures proper design, implementation, performance, availability, security, auditing, and capacity management of related database systems.
• Develops and implements standards and best practices
• Operates under general direction. Assignments are very broad in nature and of the highest level of complexity. Able to impact beyond area of responsibility.
• Oversees administration and performs hands-on administration of databases, related tools, processes, and operations in large OLTP, batch and data warehouse environments.

• Strong MongoDB and or Netezza administration, database architecture skills supporting multi-terabyte enterprise database environments. Recent experience installing, configuring, and managing the mentioned platforms.
• MongoDB/Netezza Security and Hardening expertise is required.
• A learning mentality is a must and willingness to get familiar with and develop expertise in new and varied database technology platforms both on-premises and in the cloud.
• It is expected to have an automation mindset to build streamlined solutions requiring as a minimal manual intervention as possible.
• Practical experience in pro-active and reactive database performance troubleshooting and tuning.
• Database capacity forecasting
• Supporting large scale MongoDB/Netezza databases on Linux OS.
• Databases hosted on virtualized platforms (VMware)
• Extensive experience with different backup/restore and disaster recovery solutions

• Expertise supporting multiple No SQL, relational database platforms. Experience in the following platforms is highly desirable: Cloudera (Hadoop), MySQL, IBM DB2, IBM Netezza
• Experience supporting Oracle Goldengate Replication technology and Kafka is highly desirable.
• Unix shell scripting, Python scripting skills are highly desirable.
• Infrastructure Automation skills highly desired.
• Healthcare experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts in an easy-to-understand form is essential.
• Should be a team player, with excellent organizational skills. Should have a positive attitude and be willing to bring A game to the table every day.
• Generally requires 8 to 12 years of directly related professional experience and possesses deep technical abilities in one or more primary products, programs or technologies.
