For more information, please visit www.thermofisher.com .POSITION SUMMARYThe Director, Continuous Improvement "PPI Business System" leads in driving strategic change across the Genetic Sciences Division (GSD), supports operating and business process improvements, growth and key initiatives while encouraging operational and manufacturing excellence through the application of lean six sigma principles. This leader will direct a team that develops enhanced capabilities throughout the organization and creates a culture of continuous improvement. As a team we challenge current performance and help identify improvement opportunities!You will partner with the Corporate Practical Process Improvement function and assist, collaborate, and propose new directions to leadership. As a change agent, this position creates and implements plans that enhance employee engagement. You drive faster adoption, utilization, and higher proficiency of continuous improvement practices for all employees such that business results are achieved. The team you lead is key to the operational and financial performance of the sites and value streams.Key Responsibilities:Develops division PPI strategy and deployment plan.

Creates and cultivates a process improvement culture by using the various methodology and tools such as: lean manufacturing, six-sigma, pull manufacturing, OEE, waste reduction, benchmarking, performance assessments and others.

Develops tools and processes for implementing and sustaining change. Develops education strategy on PPI principles and any new concepts working with the PPI team to implement.

Reports to Vice President, Operations and Business partners on progress, expectations, risks, and ensures post-implementation benefits are measured.

Builds relationships with site leadership team members to understand business objectives and priorities, and to develop supporting process improvement initiatives.

Stays abreast of new developments in business process improvement methodology and benchmarking, including learning from other market leaders and industries (ongoing).

Qualifications:Bachelor of Science, Engineering, Business, other related university degree.

Minimum 10 years of previous operational management experience (in Operations, Engineering, Quality, or Science/Development) or Operational Excellence experience at a leader level preferably in the pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated environment.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience developing teams

Note: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Superior knowledge of operational excellence concepts and tools, such as value stream mapping, business process re-design, lean, six sigma, modeling and simulation, cycle time reduction, facility layout design, etc.

Proven track record in leading major change initiatives, including influencing partners within varied levels, and functional areas, in an organization.

Proven interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). Strong organizational skills. Excellent presentation skills. Ability to sell ideas to the most senior levels of the organization.

Demonstrated ability to balance/maintain conflicting goals, responsibilities, and priorities.

Shown success as agent of change. Proven intuition for business (i.e., ability to understand key aspects of the company’s business strategy).
