MemorialCare Health System has two hospitals serving the healthcare needs of the Orange County community. Technology has come to play a dominant role in the provision of care, as it supports and provides for data, device, and reporting needs. The Director of Campus IT for OCMMCand SMMC is a required function in the coordination of efforts at these campuses while being responsible for overall IT operations at both hospital sites. This Director role understands and adheres to the priorities established by executive leadership and works to maintain IT operations and strategize & implement initiatives through careful planning and management of our staff. There are multiple facets to hospital IT operations which include technical support (network, telecom, & desktop), application support of over 150+ applications across two hospital sites, and Epic site support for our clinical user community including care team members, Physicians, and clinical leadership. This Director is intimately familiar with the evolving technology landscape of our OC hospital sites and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of our supported applications and systems to ensure they are operating at peak efficiency, routinely upgraded, and our connected devices are proactively managed. This Director works with Shared Services to maintain and optimize our technology standards and support services to maximize value and operational efficiencies while fulfilling operational requirements at our hospital sites. This Director effectively tracks all hospital site in-flight, in-queue, and completed initiatives allowing for strategic goals to be achieved while communicating updates through various venues. The Director strategizes and maintains a detailed department budget while partnering with Hospital Administration and other operational leaders on their IT related budget items.

Position Summary: This Director position, including oversight of the Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, will provide broad direction and focused management over the Information Services department and IT operations at both OC hospital sites. Working with the Vice President of Information Services, the Director will execute tactics aligning the campuses IT initiatives, providing services that are coordinated, consolidated, efficient, and valuable. IT operations will be well coordinated with our established onsite teams and with other campuses to ensure the timely delivery of support in alignment with business requirements. Support of existing applications and systems will involve maintaining service levels, including upgrades to maintain the integrity of the systems we support, and replacement where necessary. Every effort will be made to optimize existing technologies to reap the full investment and benefit from our technology portfolio. This Director will be responsible for issue management and will decisively and accurately provide resolution considering multiple highly dynamic factors, parties, and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Information Services for the OC hospital campuses will work in alignment with Shared Services and deliver on strategy developed by Information Services leadership, including the MemorialCare Health System Chief Information Officer. Strategic initiatives encompass the full scope of information systems and technologies spanning all campuses, affiliations and select entities located within the Southern California region. Information Services, and particularly the CIO, ensure the various systems and data, key assets of the Corporation, are well integrated to achieve a competitive advantage.

Qualifications:
  • 8 years of management experience in Information Systems, Technology or related environment, with supervisory responsibilities directing staff through support and projects.
  • 5 years experience working in acute healthcare setting.
  • Documented experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including Physicians, Nurses, ancillary services and management.
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field required. Masters degree in computer science or related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills, good organizational and project management skills; sound judgement; initiative; flexibility; detail-oriented.
  • Good understanding of computer and server based systems characteristics, features, nuances, and integration capabilities.
