We are a diverse group of 40+ designers, researchers, and content strategists focused on creating great digital banking experiences for some of the most innovative companies in the world. We are looking for a design leader to be a core part of the design and product leadership team within Client Digital Services and lead product design for our online banking platform, SVB Go.

In this role:

You'll lead Product Design for SVB Go, and in partnership with technology and product, guide design and development decisions for our key client-facing digital platform. You'll hire, mentor, and grow a team of talented designers, researchers and content strategists and continue building the Product Design practice at SVB. You are:

  • A creative design expert who is deeply passionate about design, products , and the end-to-end customer experience across a product and services ecosystem.
  • Able to create a vision and strategy, in collaboration with Design Research and Content Strategy to support delivery, user, and business goals.

  • An investigative thinker who has experience in helping organizations solve their most innovative growth questions and bringing new offerings to market with a human-centric focus
  • A n inspirational leader who excels at collaboration and mentoring, as well as guiding diverse talent .

What you'll do

  • Provide thought leadership to the design community, to inspire and provoke knowledge and new ideas within SVB
  • Provide design leadership and innovation opportunities through engaging with colleagues from other teams to ensure that iterative design and Design Research and Content Strategy approach is understood, adopted, internalized and effectively leveraged
  • Direct the creation of a holistic UX strategy and vision, as a core part of the design and product team to build best-in-class products for our clients
  • Plan, direct and orchestrate multiple UX initiatives at different stages of the product lifecycle
  • Hire, mentor and coach a growing team of talented UX Designers and Researchers with a focus on attracting top talent to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight SVB's unique capabilities and personalities

  • Direct teams and participate in gathering user insights and feedback to design and create short-term recommendations and future state visions that align with broader product strategy and create impact for the business
  • Direct solution design, prototype testing & iteration of solutions with client/stakeholder inputs, all the way through to solution development and launch
  • Facilitate information gathering working sessions and collaborate seamlessly with Product Managers, Engineers, UX designers, researchers and other cross functional stakeholders to understand business objectives , needs, and constraints while creating designs that provide creative, thoughtful solutions
  • Communicate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences at varying levels of the organization with minimal conflict and complications between collaborative and cross-functional personnel

Must Haves

  • A history in banking services and innovation. A strong eye for intuitive and disruptive digital experiences in the banking space (commercial banking a plus).
  • A portfolio that includes examples of leading strategic design with significant business outcomes
  • Experience hiring, leading, managing and inspiring direct reports
  • A strong portfolio of work exemplifying a deep understanding of UI/UX lifecycle to define user experiences that includes examples of leading initiatives with significant business outcomes

  • Experience with both consumer and business facing applications
  • A history of working across functional pods and cross-channel or omni-channel experiences, including desktop, mobile web and mobile app experiences (designing for chat-bots or IA is a plus)
  • Experience in managing and leading design teams on large-scale projects in various stages of the product lifecycle and effectively delivering in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, and ability to see the bigger end-to-end-picture
  • The confidence and natural storytelling ability to create engaging presentations and stellar communication skills to share-out research and analysis learnings clearly and effectively to other product executives and leaders across the organization

  • Expertise at applying Design Thinking and UX research methods (contextual inquiry, validation, usability, quantitative) into the product development and design process with a strong eye for intuitive and disruptive digital experiences in the banking space
  • A strong understanding of Lean UX methods and an understanding of an Agile development environment (iterative design)

Nice to haves

  • 10 + years' experience in leading large scale design initiatives in financial services
  • Experience working in and an understanding of an Agile development environment
  • A Bachelor degree or advanced degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Business, Technology OR equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in and helping to lead digital transformation initiatives, including cohesive and unified digital platforms and ecosystems versus standalone products in an agile environment
