As the Supervisor of Theme Feasibility & Surface Development, you will guide your team and a cross functional team to deliver A Surfaces that are feasible and maintain the emotive direction of the Design Studio. This role leads program, functional, and internal studio teams through Ford's Design Feasibility (FC) Progression from initial concept feasibility through to final tool-able A Surface approval.What you’ll be able to do:

Lead the creation of Class A surface, with the integration of technical, feasibility, manufacturing, and program requirements into the Design theme and surface to support the development of theme models from concept through final production release of Class A surface.

Lead the Design Feasibility FC Process from FC0 to K6, including Design Development Checklists, Hardpoints Plan, completion of FC deliverables, and the balancing of program, functional, manufacturing, and attribute trade-offs for design feasibility progression.

Deliver feasible, design intent, high quality Class A surface on time, to the GPDS deliverable requirements (inclusive of FSS and Component parts). Ensures Global Design enrollment in all near term Surface Development Processes and Tools

Lead surface development reviews within Design and follows up on issues while driving closure. Mediates incompatibilities between design and hardpoints and documents agreements and next steps.

Compile, publish, and drives closure of surface and feasibility critique sheets.

Co-create to identify what could be, can be, & find the win/win solutions that drive alignment around the Design Vision, program direction, and engineering requirements.

Create surface proposals to drive team alignment around Design Vision, and stakeholder requirements.

Lead the development of feasibility surface proposals throughout theme and surface development that enable the Design vision.

Lead Studio property planning, content, development and set up, and integrity including content, data pedigree, ride height, manikin drop and overall suitability.

The minimum requirements we seek:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

5+ yrs. of automotive surfacing authoring or surface feasibility experience

2+ yrs. experience utilizing CAD (Catia, ICEMSURF, or Alias) and Data Management (TCe)

Our preferred requirements:

Design articulate with proven experience in Studio procedures, Design progression, and the FC Process

Demonstrated experience in leading and presenting to cross-functional forums

Strong understanding of the Class A digital and physical surface verification processes

Detail oriented, with strong process execution discipline ability

High proficiency in CAD (Catia, ICEMSURF, or Alias) and Data Management (TCe) and visualization tools (VRED, Unreal)

Design articulate with proven experience in Studio procedures, Design progression, and the FC Process
