The Engineer II, R&D applies knowledge of technical principles and Edwards systems/procedures to optimize product development. The Engineer II, R&D will support the commercialization efforts of the SAPIEN M3 Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement therapy through both design and testing.Key Responsibilities: Create, test, and/or improve products by developing experiments and tests (including writing and executing protocols), analyze results, make recommendations, and develop reports, based on engineering principles Characterize new manufacturing processes and implement optimization opportunities based upon learnings Generate work instructions, BOMs, test methods, engineering models and drawings/prototypes, etc., to establish/characterize product and/or process specifications Develop and execute tooling and process qualification protocols for new products and processes Work with Pilot production to complete design verification activities and implement improvements through the use of engineering methods (e.g., Six Sigma, LEAN, Design for Assembly) Give instruction to technicians on conducting tasks and coordinate technician work Other duties assigned by LeadershipRequired Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2+ years of experience – OR - Master's Degree in Engineering with internship, senior projects, or thesis in Engineering including either industry or industry/educationPreferred Qualifications: Medical Device experience preferred Good computer skills in usage of MS Office Suite; CAD experience preferred; Minitab experience preferred Six Sigma and design of experiments experience preferred Good documentation, communication (e.g., written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative and relationship management skills Basic understanding of statistical techniques Solid understanding and knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to Engineering Solid problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills Solid understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work Knowledge of and adherence to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to department clean room medical device manufacturing Strict attention to detail Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment Must be able to work in a team environment, including the ability to manage vendors and project stakeholders Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/controlAligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.For California, the base pay range for this position is $81,000 to $114,000 (highly experienced).
