Enterprise Missions Systems program office is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Systems Director to work within an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, SE&I, and contractors across the ground Data Transport Enterprise. The Systems Director is responsible for leading Aerospace efforts to support the USSF Material Leader responsible for Information Mobility and the Data Transport Product Support Manager both under Space Systems Command/Battle Management Command Control and Communications. We are looking for someone with combination of technical and leadership skills to champion innovation on several fast-paced Data Transport and Satellite Control Network modernization projects in early acquisition phases. Candidate will apply leadership and ground system expertise to ensure needed capabilities are translated and applied to acquisition development efforts, promoting integration of pioneering technology, shared services, and rapid acquisition efficiencies. Combination of Unclassified and Classified work. Some telecommuting is possible depending on customer needs and management approval.

What You'll Be Doing
  • In collaboration with the Government and other team members, you will develop execution plans in support of ground acquisition, system integration and test strategies, and ground architecture design
  • Work closely with customer management team to identify programmatic, technical, and mission assurance challenges and develop timely and quality solutions
  • Collaborate in multi-disciplined and multi-organizational technical working group discussions, and provide technical status and recommendations to Aerospace and Government leadership
  • Provide the customer with technical assessments of system design, process integrity, and schedule confidence
  • Maintain effective working relationships with customer leadership, contractors, ETG and other supporting contractors
  • Participate with management in determining organizational goals and staffing
  • Participate in budget planning and allocation of resources
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and recommend performance improvement and career development
  • Supervise and support organization's security processes, compliance, and safety awareness

Work Model: In person work 3 times per week or more if required by the customer.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical subject area and 12 or more years of related experience
  • Program management in a leadership role
  • Broad understanding and demonstrated experience across a range of disciples for ground systems engineering, design, integration, and test
  • Experience leading technical teams in the investigation and analysis of ground system technologies
  • Experience working with mixed government, SE&I, and FFRDC teams in architecture, strategy, and systems engineering projects and tasks
  • Experience with the elements and processes associated with a government system acquisition lifecycle
  • Excellent social skills enabling effective communication with the customer, direct reports, and senior management
  • Capability to present concise briefings and to craft accurate reports and assessments
  • Ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time
  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance with ability to obtain SAP and maintain clearance, issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

How You Can Stand Out

It would be nice if you had one or more of these:
  • Advanced academic degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
  • Solid understanding of ground system architectures, especially antenna networks, digital signal processing, cybersecurity, and communications network technologies
  • Prior management role in direct support of a government customer in program office
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Prior engagement with commercial ground system vendors and understanding of commercial technologies
  • Involvement with satellite operations command and control systems
  • Practical knowledge of prototyping advanced ground system technologies
  • Experience integrating across multiple disparate ground communications systems

Grade-Based Pay Range

(Min - Mid - Max)$122,952 - $202,011 - $281,070
