TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and help lead an enterprise data warehouse and governance activities. Deploy the enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on improving data quality, trust, scalability, and protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.
  • Through collaboration with business partners, define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets.
  • Oversees the development and ongoing maintenance of an enterprise data warehouse, ensure business requirements have been captured, designed, approved and validated prior to deployment. Monitor ongoing compliance with these requirements through periodic testing.
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technology areas to ensure that data related business requirements is clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps and data dictionaries, including authoritative systems, owners, types, and flows.
  • Serves as an internal data, access, management and oversight expert to the organization and champion’s data governance and data use best practices into all areas of the organization.
  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness throughout the organization.
  • Develop informative oversight reports, indicators of performance, quality metrics, and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoptions requirements.
  • Keep management updated of data matters by developing action plans, budgets, schedules, and reports to improve data access and governance.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance appropriate to the position.
  • Research emerging data technologies for their application in our environment.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Management Information Systems, Information Security, Information Technology/Computer Sciences field, or equivalent job experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with data management and oversight experience and 5 years direct management experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices.
  • Must have experience managing teams of 5+ people
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design.
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions.
  • Experience in columnar relational data stores and NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience with big data tools traditional warehouses.
  • Experience delivering data pipelines and managing resulting data stores
  • Experience with modern data pipelines, data streaming, and using real time analytics tools
