The In-Home Respite Worker assists family members in maintaining the consumer at home. This includes relieving family members from basic self-help needs and other activities of daily living, including interaction, socialization, and continuation of daily routines that family members would ordinarily perform and/or facilitate.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains confidentiality of all clients
Performs duties and procedures, as assigned/directed, in an accurate and timely manner
Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures, including, but not limited to Universal Precautions
Notifies the Company office of any abnormal findings or conditions
Adheres to standards and procedures of the Company’s In-Home Respite Services
Arrives at the client’s home on time, and leaves when shift schedule is complete
Represents Companion Services with a positive image at all times
Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability when meeting needs
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Education and experience in related duties preferred
TB screening, if applicable
Community CPR training and First Aid Training required (see Lanterman Act, Title 17)
Strong telephone and communication skills
Valid Driver’s license if required to drive
Must be at least 18 years of age
May not be a parent, stepparent, or legal guardian of the consumer
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the
English language may be required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
