The Position:

The FSS Family Relationships Facilitator will facilitate parenting and relationship workshops to help parents, couples, and individuals build skills to improve and sustain healthy relationships for more fulfilling lives. Using approved curricula, the facilitator will support participants in strengthening fathering skills, relationship skills, understanding developmental milestones, managing stress, and building nurturing environments. The facilitator will work with teammates to actively build relationships with community partners and participate in community events to recruit participants to the program and will take an active part in shaping the program. requires working some evenings and occasional weekends.

FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization. Because working with those impacted by trauma can affect staff in various ways, FSA actively identifies and employs methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for both themselves and others.

Sample Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Facilitate workshops in person and virtually, focusing on healthy relationships and parenting skills utilizing approved curriculum.

- Actively participate in outreach and recruitment (such as community outreach and presentations) to engage participants for scheduled workshops.

- Work in collaboration with colleagues to provide a continuum of care.

- Coordinate workshops with co-facilitator and community partners to best meet participants' needs. This includes adjusting the curriculum’s lessons/activities to the various learning styles participants have and being sensitive to cultural norms.

- Complete program documentation including enrollment, program evaluations, and participant information as required by FSS and the funder.

- Support participants in enhancing parenting and relationship skills through effective communication, self-reflection, managing stress, and understanding developmental milestones.

- Demonstrate knowledge of local resources and provide information and referral when warranted.

Employment Standards:

> Bachelor’s degree preferred.

> Bilingual in English and Spanish required. Mixtec preferred.

> Comfortable facilitating community workshops with 12-24 participants of all ages and backgrounds.

> Demonstrate an understanding of cultural diversity including the culture of poverty and hard to reach or resistant individuals and families.

> Effectively teach and explain new concepts and ideas with confidence and passion.

> Familiarity with community resources and knowledge of family stability resources.

> Ability to work a flexible schedule including facilitation of workshops in the evenings.

> Computer and Internet literacy and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

> Proficient in Microsoft Office; can adapt to using various types of software.

> Valid automobile insurance and a valid California Driver License are required.

> Reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout Santa Barbara County.

> Staff who have been employed in this position for at least three years may be eligible to move to the II level.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

- This position is has both part-time and full-time opportunities! Flexible schedules are available. Please indicate in your application how many hours you’re available to work.

- Benefits are offered for positions working at least 30 hours per week, and include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts and 403(b) retirement plan. Pro-rated vacation, holiday and sick leave also offered for anyone working at least 20 hours per week.

- Pay is dependent on education and experience. Starting pay for applicants is $25.00/hour.
