And together, we're redefining the future of aerospace. We have an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Director (TD) within the Secure Mission Solutions (SMS) portfolio. This position supports the entire portfolio which includes mission processing, cross domain solutions, cryptographic networks/radios/link/space, as well as system integrity/cybersecurity and leads strategic roadmap development. SMS includes multiple geographically dispersed teams led by managers and/or supervisors across engineering functions. The selected candidate will possess the ability to work closely with Engineering, Value Stream Leaders, Program Directors, Business Development and the General Manager of the portfolio to build team cohesion and understand how to influence teams to make value added changes and develop a positive culture of continuous improvement, as well as the business acumen to effectively communicate and influence executive leadership.The Technical Director will own the establishment and execution of medium-term to long-term strategic roadmaps, plans, objectives, vision statements that align technology, customer needs and create the opportunities for our future business. This person must demonstrate a profound technical proficiency along with exceptional communication and presentation skills, as they play a pivotal role in shaping and influencing the business strategy which requires both depth and breadth in key technologies. The Technical Director is the key engineering member of the business, in conjunction with the General Manager and Business Development, and will be responsible for developing the strategies required to enable business pursuits and capture growth via strategic roadmaps. This person will provide a cohesive vision that aligns to customer needs as well as shaping/influencing future requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Secretary Defense (OSD), National Security Agency (NSA), Anti-Tamper Executive Agent (ATEA) as well as other customers. Another aspect of this role will be enterprise mentorship. All engineering disciplines, inclusive of other Technical Directors and Chief Engineers will seek council and guidance from the SMS TD. This will enable the sharing of knowledge, drive quality and create new solutions. The TD will be the primary advocate for expansive technology, fused solutions and will influence the larger business with Non-Advocate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Customer Technical alignment. This technical leader will be actively engaged in other RTX business units and will be recognized for their technical expertise internally and externally to Collins. They will also meet the expectations of the Collins Fellow Program objectives - inclusive of Leadership & Technical Excellence, Innovation & Organizational Impact, Talent Capture & Mentorship.This position is eligible for relocation.Primary Responsibilities:

Work closely with Business Development on market trends and define the technology needs required to align the portfolio.

Define the strategic steps of combined roadmap development and alignment to customer needs.

Lead the establishment of objectives for execution of mapping and modeling of key engineering business process flows to optimize efficiency and meet program / customer needs.

Partner with divisional senior executive leadership, key stakeholders, process owners, and subject matter experts to identify key customer strategic initiatives

Lead in the definition and execution of engineering policies and procedures that bring value to programs and insight to leadership.

Mentor programs leaders, customer desires, wants and needs.

Identify and structure improvement opportunities and projects. Advise on and help drive the business operations agenda.

Lead cross discipline teams. Engage across disciplines to bring focus to strategic projects and add value and velocity to engineering.

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across departments and business units.

Recommend, establish, and execute strategic projects. Implement process improvements, new processes and systems in support of engineering continuous improvement. Direct system enhancements in alignment with engineering strategy.

Understand and promote key analytical projects that assist and influence the business. Ensure alignment with the customer program objectives.

Be a resource for policy knowledge and provide strategic guidance on related issues to leadership.

Active engagement with RTX Business Units and recognized as an expert externally by regulatory bodies, customers and/or universities.

Provide leadership to facilitate high quality technical decisions, product competitiveness and robust solutions.

Engagement across the enterprise to share expertise, driving quality and success across the larger business.

Lead the development and execution of strategic plans to advance product technology and organizational capability.

Forward looking leadership to identify potential external technology disruptors and evaluate strategic applications.

Be active, visible, and engaged in external technical communities, government standards committees and shape the future of the business.

Actively engaged in the attraction of top technical talent. Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline.

Take personal responsibility to develop, advocate and retain the next generation of technical leaders, as well as delivering enrichment opportunities.

Up to 50-75% Travel

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

Experience with creating and maintaining directorate or organizational strategic roadmaps, customer trend analysis and disrupter technology.

Requires expert knowledge and mastery of multiple work areas typically obtained through advanced academic qualifications combined with experience.

Experience with establishing or modifying customer requirements, processes and procedures to drive positive results within the business.

Possess Patents, Publications, and/or Technical Presentations to industry.

Familiarity with Earned Value Management best practices and experience in execution

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 12 years experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

Active and transferable DoD Secret clearance is required prior to start date

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance or special access as required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current Top Secret/SCI clearance is preferred

Advanced degree cyber security, anti-tamper, or other (e.g., CISSP).

Experience with cost accounting structure and financial systems

In depth knowledge of Mission Processing, Protective Technologies, and/or Cryptography

In depth knowledge of DoD/FAR compliance and regulations

Experience in and/or working with all engineering disciplines

Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related tools (SysML, MagicDraw, Cameo, Rhapsody)

Experience with Cyber Security and good cyber hygiene practices for secure systems

Experience with NSA, AT, and CDS certification processes and working with these Government authorities preferred
