Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a role based in Inglewood, California. This role primarily involves managing the company's fixed assets, overseeing compliance with various tax regulations, and supervising processes related to property taxes, general insurance, and sales tax, amongst other duties. This position is within the professional services industry and offers a contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Oversee the management of the company's fixed assets, including their acquisition, depreciation, and disposal. Conduct regular physical inventory audits to verify the existence and condition of fixed assets. Prepare and reconcile fixed asset schedules and reports for financial reporting purposes. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the proper capitalization and classification of assets. Prepare and file various tax returns, including property taxes, sales tax, and income tax. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities in a timely and accurate manner. Manage the company's general insurance policies, including property, liability, and casualty insurance. Maintain compliance with state escheat laws and regulations governing unclaimed property. Monitor and report dormant accounts and unclaimed property to the appropriate state authorities. Utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel to perform tasks efficiently and accurately. Utilize key skills including but not limited to Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, Fixed Asset Accounting, Income Tax Compliance, and Indirect Tax Compliance. Requirements Proven experience as a Staff Accountant in Professional Services industry Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Demonstrated ability to perform Bank Reconciliations Knowledge of General Ledger maintenance Experience in creating and managing Journal Entries Familiarity with Month End Close process Proficiency in using NetSuite and Oracle software Experience with QuickBooks and SAP Competency in Fixed Asset Accounting Knowledge of Income Tax Compliance, Indirect Tax Compliance, and International Tax Compliance Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
