The AWS Region Services Organization redefines the way AWS designs, builds and operates regions that will enable new regions and region offerings of different designs and sizes. We deliver products by working backwards from unique Customer requirements for broader applicability. The RBE is looking for engineers help automate the modeling and execution of the region build by building tooling and self-service capability that save engineering and management time. The work of this team is central to the goal of zero touch region builds. We are looking for passionate engineers who want to take on the challenge. Our work has visibility to leadership across AWS organization and provides huge opportunity to learn new things while solving complex engineer problems, deliver results that make impact on revenue and resources, and grow professionally and personally.

Position can be located in either Irvine, CA or Arlington, VA (HQ2).

Key job responsibilitiesWe're an agile, innovative team working to build a brand new AWS product. We need front end developers who are capable of breaking down and solving complex problems. This team will have the opportunity to work on highly visible projects that directly impact hundreds of other teams at Amazon.

You will be owning and defining the front end development for a brand new AWS product. Creating the perfect user experience in a web environment requires a blend of technical knowledge, customer obsession and agility. You should be somebody who is interested in how the various components (browsers, networks, APIs, protocols and web servers) work together, and understand how they can be effectively used together to create great user experiences.

You will work closely with customers to ensure we are delivering interfaces that make it easy to do complex tasks, without making the experience challenging. You will be part of a small, fast moving team that will have a huge impact on the overall AWS business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of overall software development experience, with an emphasis on web applications and front end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, ECMAScript 2016, CSS pre-processors (SASS, Less), JavaScript transpilers (Babel, CoffeeScript, TypeScript), and JavaScript etc )

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer Science fundamentals in OO design, data structure, and algorithm design
  • Experience building rich data-driven web applications
  • Experience with modern web technologies and techniques such as HTML5, CSS3, ECMAScript 2016, CSS pre-processors (SASS, Less), JavaScript transpilers (Babel, CoffeeScript, TypeScript), and JavaScript build tools (Browserify, WebPack, Grunt, Gulp)
  • Experience in building reusable Web Components
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React, Redux, Vue, Ember, or Angular, along with the knowledge of when to use them
  • Experience with Node.js and Java based web applications
  • Experience with unit testing framework such as Jest, Jasmine or mocha
  • Strong communications skills; you will be required to proactively engage fellow Amazonians both inside and outside of your team.
