We are rearchitecting on-prem legacy Data warehouse platforms and moving to a Unified, Modern, Scalable & Secure Data Platform on Google Cloud.Looking for Principal Data Engineer to design, build and maintain Engineering excellence for our Google cloud data platform – from data pipelines, orchestration layer, advanced analytics and AI/ML ops. This role will provide technical guidance to data engineering and AI/ML engineering teams, for applying engineering best practices using Google cloud native tech stack Key responsibilities
This role will be responsible for providing technical leadership in developing reusable engineering patterns for data pipelines, micro services, analytics and AI/ML engineering solutions
Will provide guidance to distributed google cloud data platform teams of engineers across Ford Credit on building reliable data solutions.
This role will be the central authority & go to person for engineering best practices, reusable patterns and overall engineering excellence
Will work with a small team and cross-functional partners to facilitate cloud migration, solve difficult data solutioning challenges data pipelines in Ford’s Data Factory, enabling the delivery of data and analytics solutions
Will help us develop & mature Data Engineering talent through inspirational technical and professional leadership
Role model “software and data first” mindset to drive internal disruption to accelerate value creation through use of modern, cloud native tech stack
Works closely with Engineering, Architecture & enterprise data factory teams driving maximum commonality and re-use of data solutions across the enterprise
Critical Success Factors
Deep knowledge of and passion for Data Engineering and discipline to ensure quality, reliability and customer satisfaction
Ability to work across teams to design and implement right reusable engineering patterns for data solutions, and continuously improve existing ones
Drive for innovation, simplification and operational excellence.
Ability to become a trusted advisor to Data Engineering, architecture, analytics and insights teams.
Must Have Skills
Google Cloud certified profession Cloud Data Engineer
5-8 years of experience in technical delivery of Data Warehouse Cloud Solutions for large companies, and business adoption of these platforms to build insights
Master’s degree in- Computer science, Computer engineering, Data science or related field
5+ years experience leading technical teams, delivery complex projects using Agile methodologies, and product support of those solutions
Solid knowledge of cloud data architecture, data modelling principles, DevOps, SRE, security and controls
Knowledge of most of the following:
Orchestration of data pipelines (e.g. Airflow, DBT, Dataform).
Batch data pipelines (e.g. Spark, Dataflow).
Streaming data pipelines (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub, Beam).
Data warehousing techniques (e.g. data modelling, ETL/ELT).
Data Catalog and Lineage
DLP and Classification of data
AI/ML engineering & Ops (Vertex AI, Auto ML)
Hands-on work in cloud migration and data and analytics cloud native tools, Google Cloud Platform experience preferred but not required
Quick learner, self-starter, energetic leaders with drive to deliver results
Empathy and care for customers and teams, as a leader guide teams on advancement of skills, objective setting and performance assessment
Good to Have Skills
Hands on Engineer, ready to lead by example.
Very strong leadership, communication, organizing and problem-solving skills
Ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders & drive forward strategic data transformation
