Description Our client, a well-established and impactful non-profit organization based in San Diego, is committed to making a difference in the community. They are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accounting professional who is passionate about supporting a meaningful cause while applying their expertise in financial management.Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the financial aspects of grant funding, ensuring accurate and timely accounting of grant expenditures and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with program managers to develop and monitor grant budgets, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively, and expenses stay within budget.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for grant-funded programs, including variance analysis and reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with grant terms, conditions, and regulations, and assist in preparation for audits and reporting to funders.

Maintain accurate records of all grant transactions, ensuring proper documentation and support for reporting purposes.

Work closely with program managers, grant writers, and the finance team to ensure alignment between financial and programmatic goals.

Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes related to grant management and reporting.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

3+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years specifically focused on grant accounting or fund accounting in a non-profit environment.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience with grant-related financial regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
