Horizontal and 5-axis Programmer

Our client, a very diverse manufacturer providing a wide range of products including micro-machining, custom machining, and the fabrication of metal and plastic parts and components is looking for a seasoned Horizontal and 5 Axis Programmer to join their team on a full time basis is San Jose, CA. Ideal candidates will have 8-10 years of experience working in a machine shop manufacturing environment. This role pays between $38.00 - $50.00 per hour. RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mastercam CNC programming experience and skill set required
• Mechanical machined part drawing reading and interpretation skills - Strong knowledge of GD&T
• Strong knowledge of Fanuc controllers that use high-performance hardware and the latest advances in network communications, integrated iRVision, and motion control functions.
• Must be able to read machine code - G & M code
• Ability to design / program fixtures and knowledge of different work holding options
• Knowledge of proper feeds and speeds and tooling choices
• Conduct process improvement & optimization activities in support of manufacturing yield
• We are looking for candidates with experience on Vertical Mills, horizontal and 5-axis machines that rely on a tool that moves in five different directions — X, Y, and Z, as well as A and B, around which the tool rotates; Knowledge of Matsuura 5-axis a big plus
• Previous supervisory skills a plus
• Familiarity with machine shop processes and machining exotic materials a plus.
• Solidworks experience is a plus
• MS Word / Excel competence and ability to document setup instructions
• Ability to sit at a desk and use computer equipment for 8 hours
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly write and speak English

• May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
• Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
• Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
