Job Summary:Directs the activities of a mask design function involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Ensures circuits conform to design rules and circuit schematics. Responsible for the storage of circuit documentation. Develops computer design rule checks. May select mask vendors. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Technical Direction to Layout Engineering Resources
  • ROIC Design Layout – Conversion of electrical schematic drawings to manufacturable IC designs by creating GDS/OA databases
  • DRC and LVS ROIC and Detector Design Verification – Ensure designs conform to wafer manufacturer’s given design rules and database passes design rule checks
  • Coordination with design team, analog design, and full custom IC cell layout
  • Customer Interface – Communicate with customer/vendors as necessary, including some preparation or assistance in preparation of presentation materials and documentation
  • ROIC Design Layout – Conversion of electrical schematic drawings to manufacturable IC designs by creating GDS databases
  • Ensure Integrated Circuit Design tools/licenses are available and in proper working order
  • Ensure Foundry PDKs are installed and rolled out to the design teams in an effective and timely manner.
  • Updates/Adds/Removes user accounts to LINUX server system so that all team/group members can access tools.

  • SUPERVISION: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing. In some instances this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees.
  • ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Required while performing all technical and managerial tasks. This includes, but is not limited to – Documentation, Layout, Verification, Employee engagement, Employee one-on-ones, Employee trainings, Resource planning.
  • COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK: Required to coordinate with various design teams, analog designers, and digital designers, and other engineering staff
  • KNOWLEDGE OF and CONTINUOUS LEARNING in the following areas:
  • Imaging Systems and Electro-Optical Components
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Full custom CMOS Layout
  • Ability to read analog and digital schematics
  • Understanding of DRC and LVE methodologies
  • Full-custom IC Layout and the design tools
  • ANALYTICAL PROBLEM SOLVING: Required in order to quickly identify the root cause of difficult technical problems as well as analyzing alternate approaches and developing
  • SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE Required:
  • Strong Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Experience with Linux desired
  • IC Design CAD tools (Cadence, Mentor)
