Position: IMS Database Administrator/Systems Programmer Location: Telecommute and should be available on-call Contract Duration: 1 to 2 years (renewed annually) Client: County in CA (The Innovation and Technology Department) NOTE: Additionally, please note that the County has a contract of hourly rate terms as well as on-call availability agreed upon through negotiations. This position has been approved for fulltime telecommute with on-call availability. Hours of work will be Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, with occasional after hours, Holidays and Weekends. IMS Database Administrator/Systems Programmer (Contract) Job Specs: The Innovation and Technology Department of client is seeking a motivated contract IMS DBA. The candidate will
- Work business hours and occasional after hours and weekends.
- Provide for coverage of other mainframe system DBAs as necessary.
- Provide on-call support after hours and weekends.
- Install, implement, test and tune IMS Database and Transaction manager systems.
- Provide Database Administrator (DBA) Support for application developers.
- Disaster Recovery preparedness for IMS by maintaining and tuning backup and recovery
- Maintain IMS virtualization mapping for IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator and Data Virtualization
- Work with other DBAs and systems programmers in support of DBA software such as DB2, QMF
- IMS DBA to support IMS v15 environment on zOS
- IMS DB and TM running several databases and transactions.
- Knowledge of development lifecycle, PSBs, copy books, and MFSs.
- Knowledge of IMS system administration using IMS consoles, JCL, DL/I, DFSDDLT0, backup and restore, database reorg and pointer checkers.
- Strong knowledge of DBRC, and IMS control and message regions.
- Desirable Skills, but not required:
- Sysview for IMS, ESP, Endevor, or OpsMVS from Broadcom
- File Manager
- Shadow from Rocket software
- Tivoli Decision Support
- IBM DB2 and QMF
- Minimum of 5 years as IMS (or DB2) Database Administrator.
