The Opportunity:

Mattel is currently seeking a Procurement Manager in El Segundo, CA. This role will support and manage the strategic sourcing and category management activities associated with IT-related categories. This role is vital to ensuring that Mattel continues to gain momentum towards truly becoming a world class strategic sourcing organization which will drive further operational efficiencies across the globe via sustainable cost discipline and revenue growth platforms. This position reports directly into the Director, Global Procurement.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Effectively partner with key Business stakeholders to develop and execute on respective category strategies and support on-going sourcing activities. Focus on IT categories.
  • Provide category management support to Mattel’s on-going OFG (Optimizing For Growth) initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to manage complex strategic sourcing projects which include but not limited to gathering sourcing requirements, vendor screening, preparing and conducting complex Requests For Proposals (RFP/RFI) and following negotiations, manage supplier relationship, and contract development / execution.
  • Conduct market analysis, cost modeling, financial risk management
  • Identify value improvement and cost savings opportunities across spend categories
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders through active listening and problem solving to gain a position of influence as a trusted advisor
  • Collaborate and partner with Legal department on various complexity of contract negotiations.
  • Provide insight and best practices to the business and procurement teams as needed
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers while effectively resolving supplier performance/capability issues to ensure alignment with internal stakeholder expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Create and facilitate Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) programs for key supplier partnerships.
  • Support ad-hoc projects on as-needed basis within spend categories defined
  • Increase stakeholder engagement where applicable across spend categories

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of professional experience in strategic sourcing or Supply Chain Management or combination of education and experience
  • Certification in supply chain, contract management, procurement, project management or an MBA is a plus
  • Excellent end to end project management skills
  • Ability to effectively navigate competing priorities and ambiguity
  • Ability to utilize a multi-step strategic sourcing process with emphasis in the development of category strategies and RFx sourcing processes
  • Strategic negotiation skills
  • IT category (software, hardware, other) sourcing experience is a requirement, specifically:
  • High new soft- and hardware spend
  • Ongoing IT contract renewals & negotiations
  • Partnering with IT to consolidate contracts across divisions and converting to enterprise deals and co-terming
  • Support IT in maintenance of Software Asset Management (SAM) tool
  • Competencies and knowledge in contract development (especially IT contracts), including key contracting principles, standard terms etc.
  • Effective business communication, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the workforce, including senior leadership and executive management
  • Exceptional problem solving, strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, ability to deal with ambiguity, and risk management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with positive, customer-focus approach in combination with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment
  • Knowledge/experience with Coupa modules (P2P, CSO, CLM, AIC) or other source-to-pay and Oracle systems a plus.
