The POS Retail IT Administrator is responsible for the set-up, performance monitoring, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of computer, network, retail POS and telecommunications technologies. This individual will partner with applicable vendors and teams to deploy and support all aspects of retail stores, POS systems and retail technologies. Additionally, the POS Retail IT Administrator will support the local business user community along with network, server, and system administration.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Oversee the deployment, setup and configuration of retail stores including POS, network, TVs, cameras, scanners, printers, wireless access points and back-office systems
  • Oversee the procurement of software and hardware to support the deployment of new retail stores
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for supporting retail stores, technical issue resolution and ticket management
  • Partner with internet service providers and other vendors to support and deploy retail stores
  • Develop and document procedures and practices for supporting and deploying retail stores
  • Install, maintain, and evaluate network systems, wireless and telephony communications
  • Install, maintain, and administer network infrastructure environment, supporting the LAN/WAN across the organization
  • Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Provide configuration management support in accordance with compliance, policies, and procedures
  • Comply with and supports IT information security requirements and directives
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of POS, retail technology hardware and systems
  • Knowledge of SAP GK OmniPOS and card payment systems is beneficial but not required
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry and Data Security Standards)
  • Technically proficient with POS printers, cash drawers, scanners, Wi-Fi, VoIP telephony, and time clocks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficient in routers, switches, firewall, etc.
  • Proficient in enterprise monitoring tools
  • Proficient in firewall management
  • Proficient in in routing and switching protocols including and complex routing protocol setup
  • Ability to make decisions independently, or escalate when applicable
  • Ability to establish and foster effective cross functional relationships
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills along with attention to details

Education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Informational Technology, preferably network / telecom support / POS
