IT Systems Backup Specialist We are currently seeking an individual to join our Server and Storage Infrastructure Managed Services delivery team. As the IT Systems Backup specialist, the qualified individual will assume responsibilities experienced with engineering and administration of enterprise, large-scale Dell/EMC, IBM and NetApp storage systems using disk-disk backup strategies including use of software such as Veritas Netbackup with Quantum tape drives.The ideal candidate is experienced in storage and data backup lifecycle management which includes, but not necessarily limited to, designing, deploying, operating, troubleshooting , and collaborating with other server, network, SAN and application teams. The selected individual is responsible for ongoing maintenance including but not necessarily limited to capacity, performance, and problem management of the production backup infrastructure. In addition, the ideal candidate is expected to work independently to identify operational characteristics, determining the presence of a problem, identifying possible solutions, selecting the most appropriate solution, and implementing that solution in a timely manner in accordance with our formal Change Control Process.We are looking for an individual that is a self-starter who has experience identifying every opportunity for improvement and proactively driving new solutions to stay ahead of the company’s needs. Working directly with our project management and other IT teams, this role is responsible for decisions which shape our services for years to come. This role also works directly with the server administration and client project teams to review data protection and restore requirements, as needed. Responsibilities· Perform all functions pertaining to Backup and restoration services management.· Ensure compliance with the backup and restoration services process.· Inform the service owners on the capacity of the backup infrastructure (e.g. backup tapes, restoration infrastructure, etc.)· Execute all backup tests· Perform all functions pertaining to the restoration of services through back-up restores.· Produce the necessary reports (e.g. trend analysis, backup infrastructure capacity) for service improvement and management reporting purposes.· Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures· Contribute to and maintain system standards, policies and proceduresRequirements· Minimum 5 years experience designing, deploying, and managing disk and tape backup infrastructure· Extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of backup and recovery solutions used for servers running Windows Server 2008 and newer, Linux RHEL 7 and 8, Solaris· Experience with Brocade SAN switches and general IP network connectivity· Understanding of Installation, configuration and maintenance of Veritas NetBackup backup environment including servers, agents, disks and tape storage devices· Troubleshooting backup performance problems reaching beyond backup/recovery tools· Familiar working with DB administrators (MS SQL and Oracle) to create and maintain storage backup solutions· Familiar with managing Disk storage systems, Data deduplication, and Tape libraries· Candidate must be organized and analytical, able to plan effectively to eliminate delivery obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team player· Ability to work under time pressure· Understanding of ITIL framework· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.· Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude.· Great organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.· Provide 24x7 support as needed· Availability to resolve urgent backup and storage environment problems outside of business hours.
