This national laboratory funded by the Department of Energy is looking for a talented IT Engineer. For over 50 years, this lab has delivered world-class science, garnering Nobel prizes and scientific accolades.Your responsibilities will include:Work in a team of highly motivated technologists within IT to resolve service requests that are both simple and complex in a dynamic, fast-paced environment for computer hardware, software, user accounts and routine server and network problems.

Collaborate across other IT groups as well as the scientists, staff and other specialists at the lab to prioritize, resolve or refer problems in support of services critical to the operations and scientific mission.

Deliver our IT services through the various ways we reach our community, including in-person, remote and over the phone support.

Contribute to the standards used throughout the lab and the development of our client support strategy. Investigate and test new tools, systems, techniques, and software products.

Work on projects requiring expertise and creativity in analysis and deployment of technology. Sometimes this means guiding other staff and providing technical mentorship and training.

The priority for this role are the accounts provisioned for use at the Lab and its facilities, and will include support for Windows, Macintosh and mobile endpoints as a part of this role.

Using modern tools and methods, automate workflows for service desk operations.

Under general supervision, provide technical support to end-users for computer hardware, software, and network related problems.

Work on projects requiring expertise and creativity in analysis and deployment of technology.

Research, recommend and implement hardware and software purchases and configurations to meet client needs and ensure compatibility with university systems and architecture.

Research, recommend and implement approved standards used throughout the unit and contribute to the development of the client support strategy.

Investigate and test new tools, systems, techniques, and software products.

Provide technical guidance and training; may guide other staff.

Diagnose and resolve service desk incidents; respond to escalated issues from clients and other support teams; perform triage, provide remote problem resolution when possible, refer problems to associated groups.

Under general supervision, occasionally perform routine server administration and configuration management.

Create and maintain service documentation and technical documentation for your work.

To Be Successful In This Position, You Will BringA combination of education and relevant experience equal to a two-year college degree and two or more years of relevant experience.

Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to provide excellent client service.

Ability to apply diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting.

Ability to apply information technology best practices, including security (this includes information security or physical security, such as asset management) to problem resolution and troubleshooting.
