IT / Systems Engineer.

Candidate must be authorized to work in USA without requiring sponsorship

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90095

Duration: 4 months w/ possibility of extension

Description:
  • Provide technical expertise and engineered solutions for the desktop endpoint environment. Serve as an escalation point for the day-to-day 24x7 TSD Operations and other technology teams.
  • Major responsibilities include desktop architecture, design, build, management, and support of the desktop infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to the following technologies: Windows OS, In-Place Upgrades, Macintosh OS, Linux OS, networking concepts, programming concepts and paradigms, PowerShell and Bash scripts and scripting, printing, hardware, patching, security remediation, application deployments, anti-virus, full-disk encryption, desktop virtualization and endpoint management software like Intune/Azure, JAMF, SCCM, etc.
  • Manage Active Directory and Azure/Intune desktop policies for ClinNet (Kiosks) and Enterprise endpoints. Ensure that policies, standards, standard operating procedures, and how-to documents are developed.
  • Ensure endpoints follow standard security guidelines and safeguards. Communicate effectively, both verbally and written to clients and peers. Effectively apply escalation process within the guidelines of the SLA.
  • Resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner. Participate in after-hours on-call support. Develop automated solutions to complex problems utilizing scripting and third-party technologies.
  • Provide technology roadmap to enhance current and emerging desktop technologies. Develop, test and document various Windows and Macintosh images and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Develop and manage standard software deployments for small and large projects utilizing SCCM (MECM), PDQ, Intune, GPO, etc. Provide testing workflow for ISS supported applications while ensuring the integrity of the Windows and Macintosh platforms.
  • Follow security policies and best practices in developing, maintaining, and deploying Group Policy Objects and Intune policies. Work with IT Security to monitor and remediate endpoint security vulnerabilities across the ISS enterprise monthly.
  • Provide maintenance and support of the Desktop Alert, Checkpoint, Imprivata OneSign, AGPM, SCCM/MECM, JAMF, MDT, WSUS, and Sophos (AV) applications. Provide maintenance and support of our Epic related technologies (BCA, Warp Drive, Willow, Workflow Conductor, Monitor, etc.).
  • Work with application owners to test Microsoft monthly security patches for application compatibility and to release the security patches monthly.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain our SCCM/MECM Windows 10 In-Place Upgrade task sequences. Ensure our Windows endpoint environment is kept up to date with the latest feature updates from Microsoft.
  • Monitor, control, and remediate alerts from the desktop Sophos (Anti-virus) console, Streamline the installation Desktop Services installation procedures using scripting technologies; Microsoft PowerShell, VBS and Command and Bash scripts.
  • SME for Radiology applications: Medicals, Epic, GE PACS RA1000, Powerscibe 360, FUJI PACS and Cerner EMR. Develop, maintain, and enhance the Macintosh OSX infrastructure and support model using JAMF.
  • Maintain and enhance the Desktop test lab. Maintain our Imprivata OneSign TapBadge SSO Solution. This includes but is not limited to agent updates, server updates, new policies, management of current policies and timeouts, etc.
  • Manage Checkpoint Encryption and maintain system updates. Manage and support our SCCM/MECM endpoint environment (rollup patches, monthly patching, boot images, PXE deployment, the OSD process).
  • Provide maintenance and support for Desktop Alert application. Respond in a timely manner to high or urgent priority service requests, incidents, or outages to meet departmental SLA s.
  • Ensure staff and others authorized to make changes in the IT environment adhere to the ISS Change Management process. Contribute in daily or weekly huddles.
  • Participate in the implementation of new technology at ISS, including staff preparation and training change management, and development of new ISS standards.
  • Test and evaluate new hardware and software, as necessary. Maintain our current set of ClinNet and Enterprise standards (Desktop Icons, Start Menu, Standard Software Stack, etc.).
  • Make certain that Change Controls, Service Requests, Problems, and Incidents are opened, updated, and closed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Be a champion for ISS and serve as a role model to encourage others to embrace operational changes associated with ISS initiatives.
  • Provide support and software updates for the Citrix Receiver and Workspace clients. Collaborate with the other UC Medical Centers to architect new technologies and using the combined buying power to drive costs down.
  • Create, test, and assign Windows Group Policies and deploy software packages and scripts as necessary to achieve desired changes in the environment. Maintain and configure internal self-service application installation portal.
  • Manage relationships with vendors providing products, solutions and/or services. Coordinate professional services activity in areas of work as needed.
  • Participate in monthly Hospital and/or clinic rounding to ensure our endpoints are healthy and working as intended.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to monitor and report on statuses of endpoints utilizing SCCM/MECM.
  • Understanding of Networking and Active Directory.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Mac OS, Intune, SCCM/MECM, JAMF, and other endpoint management solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of ISS Microsoft Office products (O365, Office 2016, Outlook, Exchange and OWA).
  • Understanding of project plans, presentations, procedures, diagrams, and other technical documentation.
  • Understanding of Networking protocols and standards: DNS, DHCP, WINS and TCP/IP, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow escalation procedure within the TSD Team and under the ISS umbrella.
  • Establish standards and procedures for best practices, enabling commitments to established SLA s.
  • Ability to research and test new technologies and processes.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Understanding of various Desktop Management Systems such as anti-virus software, patch management, full disk encryption, SSO/Tap-Badge software and software delivery.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and execute work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate the status of various systems to management and/or support personnel.
  • Ability to skillfully react to a fluid and constantly changing work environment.
  • Ability to train, delegate and review the work of staff members.
  • Advanced knowledge of ticketing systems (ServiceNow).
  • Strong technical abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud computing (Azure, InTune, Auto-Pilot, Box, OneDrive).
  • Advanced knowledge of standard desktop imaging and upgrade procedures; SCCM/MECM (+MDT), OSD, PXE, Thin vs Thick images.
  • Advanced knowledge of VPN remote software and RDP setup.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Citrix based printing.
  • Understand ITIL overview and tier structure support using ticket tracking system.
  • Advanced knowledge of Apple OSX and iOS operating systems and platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies (Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, VMWare, Azure).
  • Advanced knowledge of IT Security applications (Cisco AMP, Aruba OnGuard, DUO, FireEye, Windows Defender, Windows BitLocker, Checkpoint Encryption and USB Whitelisting).
  • Must have a valid driver license and have reliable transportation.
