Java Backend Test Automation Engineer for leading Fintech company in the Bay Area.

A leading Fintech company is looking for a seasoned Automation Quality Engineer to provide technical support to our back-end development team focused on making product delivery to the customers fast and high-quality. The position requires knowledge of various technologies for automated testing of Java microservices and utilizing multiple technologies to achieve continuous delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain our Java-based Karate automation frameworks in the cloud backend testing
  • Research, propose, and integrate improvements to our existing framework
  • Advocate for testing best practices across teams and disciplines; facilitate reviews for automation capability and maximum coverage
  • Implement automated tests to verify functionality, performance, scalability, and security of Quicken back-end components based on business and technical documentation and discussions
  • Build tools for QE and Dev for data simulation/preparation and testing specific features.
  • Get code coverage tools working
  • Propose improvements to how we measure test coverage
  • Build Performance test framework for backend testing
  • Develop test strategies and test plans for new product/feature automation
  • Mentor and train other quality engineers on how to write quality tests and improve existing ones.

Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience in testing web, mobile, and desktop applications
  • Solid hands-on experience with Java-based frameworks. Preferably: Karate, SoapUI, etc.
  • Strong coding experience with Java
  • Expert-level skills in testing REST API, using tools like Postman, Charles, etc.
  • Experience with Agile/DevOps tools (Jenkins/Jira/Git), ability to create jobs, automate CI pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with unit testing & Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience in the design and implementation of test automation framework.
  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience

Desired Qualifications:
  • Good understanding of software design/architecture process
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and virtualization technologies
  • Experience with open-source technologies—you’re prototyping and/or researching the up-and-coming technology and solution
