Job Title: Journeyman Welder (SCA)Job DescriptionWelds parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks, or other structural assemblies. The role involves preparing the workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating, examining weld sizes, and cleaning the weld area. The successful candidate will weld metal components of products according to layout, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions using electric arc-welding equipment.Responsibilities
Weld together metal components of products as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment.
Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
Complete welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
Clean or degrease weld joints or workpieces using a wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes as needed.
Select proper electrodes according to metals to be joined or as instructed.
Perform grinding and joint preparation for NDT processes.
Utilize flux-cored inner shield and dual shield welding along with oxy-acetylene torching, air-arc, weld-wire gas, stick, and pipe flange techniques.
Construct or repair metal products by joining parts manually using a variety of welding methods including electric arc, MIG and TIG welding, or by machine.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in MIG welding, stick welding, flux core welding, and TIG welding.
Experience with electric arc, gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must be able to obtain DBIDS.
Must have completed a high school diploma or GED.
OSHA, FW, and Radcon certifications.
