Description We are in search of a Junior Accountant to join our team in the healthcare industry, based in San Diego, California. This role will involve various accounting functions, primarily accounts payable, and the use of accounting software systems. This is a contract to hire employment opportunity, offering the chance to contribute to our mission in the hospitals and social assistance sector.This is an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity with a healthcare non-profit. The ideal candidate will have accounts payable experience, strong foundational accounting knowledge, and eager to grow their accounting skills. Responsibilities: Accurately process invoices, both paper and electronic, with a focus on coding for invoices. Utilize Excel for various tasks including V-lookups, navigating spreadsheets, and creating formulas. Maintain accurate customer credit records and process customer credit applications. Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including electronic accounts payable. Oversee general ledger functions, not limited to posting but understanding when to code something. Occasionally communicate with vendors and handle light volume email correspondence. Handle reimbursements including mileage and company credit card statements. Keep track of various monthly aspects such as code to reserves, inventory, and pre-paid items. Employ accounting software systems such as Sage 100 and Excel. Conduct auditing tasks as needed, including writing checks and coding with journal.Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services Experience with CaseWare Knowledge of Concur software Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) Experience handling Accounts Receivable (AR) Proficiency in Accrual Accounting Prior experience in Auditing Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team High level of discretion and confidentiality for sensitive financial information Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organization and time-management skills Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure Willingness to continue professional development and stay up-to-date with industry trends.
