Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the position require the selected candidate to be an active and value add contributor to client delivery objectives and become fully integrated in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) of the overall DevOps team. As such, the junior developer participates and is responsible for their portion of SDLC delivery including design, development, test, operations, release management, and support of the delivery of software. These responsibilities can be described as followed: • Design responsibilities include functional, technical, and operation design related to the solution stack • Development responsibilities includes the following: o Development of new enhancement or defects o Development means programming in the solution technical architecture either by programmatic or declarative implementation o Candidates must have a working knowledge of coding in Java, C, C# or other mainstream Object-Oriented Programming language (not including scripting languages or Python) o Candidates must be proficient with the use of a modern Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Eclipse or Visual Studio Code (i.e. also known as VS Code) o Development of code involves Version Control using Git and Git compatible repositories such as GitHub or BitBucket, CI/CD pipeline, and code reviews o Test responsibilities include developing Junit tests, executing Assembly Test Scripts, and supporting the resolution of defects from higher environments such as ST, UAT, or Production o Operations and release management includes the on-going support of the production environment, Level 3 support, priority releases, and data fixes

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Computer Science Bachelors Degree from a 4-year University

Must Have Skills and Proficiency:
  • Java 1.8
  • Object Oriented Programming
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Html5 / CSS / JavaScript
  • Web Architectures / MVC / LAMP
  • Unix Commands / Linux OS
  • Tools such as Eclipse, SQL IDE, Putty SSH

Preferred Skills and Proficiency with the following:
  • Java 1.11
  • Spring Core / Spring Frameworks / Spring Boot / Spring Batch
  • JQuery (Ajax) / Bootstrap
  • React / Angular / Vue
  • Thymeleaf, Java Server Pages, Servlets, Structs
  • NGNIX or Apache Web Server
  • Microservice Architectures
  • Data Modeling for OLTP
  • SQL Performance and Query Tuning
  • SOAP Web Services / RESTful Web Services
  • Web Service Description Language (WSDL)
  • XML XSD Schema
  • Messaging Protocols and Patterns
  • Familiar with JBoss / Oracle WebLogic / IBM WebSphere

For the current and near future, the working arrangement is a hybrid model of working from home predominantly with the occasional request to report to a company office or client location. Team members work remote from home; however, this DevOps team provides SI services for a local Sacramento client and team members must live in the greater Sacramento area with an ability to commute to downtown Sacramento.
