At ManTech International Corporation, you’ll help protect our national security while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement.Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Landscape Herbicide Technician to join our team in Lompoc, CA. The position is Part Time (30 Hours per week) on an Alternative Work Week (AWW) schedule: Monday – Thursday, 10-hour days.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Support habitat restoration projects, primarily in remote, wildland settings on Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA and occasionally on other installations such as Naval Base Ventura County San Nicolas Island, CA, Pillar Point Air Force Station, and others

Remove non-native invasive plants primarily via chemical and manual methods

Install native outplantings

Install and maintain irrigation systems

Collect accurate data on smart phones

Navigate using GPS

Use handheld power equipment such as chain saws and brush cutters

Mix and apply herbicide with backpack and/or boom sprayers

Drive 4WD and trailered loads

Identify maintenance needs of equipment, e.g., pumps, engines, trailers, vehicles, etc.

Work vehicles are provided for travel to work sites throughout Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma and 2 years’ experience in landscape maintenance, herbicide application, agriculture, or similar

Ability to pass two tests to obtain a CA Dept of Pesticide Regulations (DPR) Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC)

Chainsaw experience

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Ability to drive 4WD trucks with trailers

Ability to use smart phone/GPS/mobile application technologies.

Up to 25% local travel

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in ecology, restoration, or natural resources is desired

Experience in restoration, landscaping, and/or gardening is desirable

QAC or Qualified Applicator License (QAL) is desired

Security Clearance:

Must be US citizen or Permanent Resident

Physical Requirements:

Field technicians may encounter typical field hazards such as poison oak, ticks, and other nuisance species

Ability to carry heavy loads (up to 50 lbs)

Ability to hike long distances over rugged terrain in inclement weather conditions

The projected compensation range for this position is $39,700-$65,300. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
