Description Legal Assistants directly support lawyers and may be required to supervise other legal staff, such as legal secretaries or file clerks.The ideal Legal Assistant will have sound technical and computer knowledge as well as excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.In some cases, law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.What you get to do every single day
Deposit e-files and documents into the proper folders
Bring together documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals
Matter management, record keeping, etc
Analyze and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites
Fulfill word processing, filing and faxing
Making sure copied documents adhere to original standards
Ensure documents are ready for photocopying and scanning
Stay on top of legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed
Set up correspondence and memorandum
Cultivate computer database input and retrieval Requirements
Strong familiarity with e-Filing
Administrative Assistance experience preferred
Experience with Calendar Management
Editing experience preferred
Adeptness in Legal Assistant
Proofing experience desired
Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
Conducting routine discovery
Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
2+ years of relevant experience
Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
