JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role supports continuous production by minimizing downtime, adhering to food safety and regulatory requirements, and proactively maintaining equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production machinery, utilities, and facility systems.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues to minimize production downtime.

Maintain and repair facility infrastructure (lighting, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, compressed air systems, etc.).

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance calls.

Follow and maintain documentation for preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, work orders, and repair logs.

Ensure compliance with food safety, OSHA, GMPs, and other regulatory standards.

Collaborate with production, sanitation, and quality teams to ensure equipment is safe, clean, and operational.

Recommend improvements to equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.

Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment or facility upgrades.

Maintain proper use and inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training preferred.

2+ years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or food production environment.

Experience with mechanical, electrical, and/or industrial automation systems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

Knowledge of food safety, GMPs, and sanitation requirements for food manufacturing.

Familiarity with PLCs and basic automation troubleshooting is a plus.

Welding, fabrication, or machining experience preferred.

Strong commitment to safety and compliance standards.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Able to work a 3rd shift schedule (e.g. 10pm to 6:30am), and overtime, weekends, and holidays when needed.
