Maintenance Worker needed

This position performs technical and mechanical work that pertains to the buildings, docks, grounds, and amenities of the Moss Landing Harbor District. Applicant will be expected to meet and assist with maintaining Moss Landing Harbor District’s high standards for cleanliness, overall appearance, safety, and functionality.

By definition, a maintenance worker, under the direction of the lead maintenance worker, Maintenance Manager, Operations Supervisor, and/or Harbormaster, repairs and maintains machinery, plumbing, physical structure, and electrical systems in accordance with District policy. Applicant maintains grounds, piers, docks, buildings, equipment, marine floating equipment, roadways, and parking lots in clean and orderly condition.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1) Completes assigned work orders generated from Maintenance Manager, Operations Supervisor, and/or Harbormaster

2) Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects

3) Performs preventative maintenance tasks on a variety of equipment

4) Repairs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other systems on docks and piers and in buildings owned and operated by Moss Landing Harbor District

5) Performs carpentry work as necessary to repair District facilities

6) Paints as required, using brush or spray equipment appropriate to the task

7) Performs masonry work as necessary

8) Undertakes new installation projects as directed by Harbor staff

9) Operates cranes, forklifts, trucks, boats, pile drivers, dredges, and other mechanical equipment as directed

10) Performs other work related duties as assigned with appropriate tools

Wages are dependent upon applicant’s experience. An applicant with less than forty eight (48) continuous months in a maintenance department or as a maintenance worker will be described as a trainee. Wage rates shall be based upon the basic wage rates of employment classification and length of employment. Additionally, the Moss Landing Harbor District shall provide fringe benefits including but not limited to: Pension, Health, and Welfare; as well as vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay.
