We are a diverse group of 30+ designers, researchers, and content strategists focused on creating great digital banking experiences for some of the most innovative companies in the world. We are looking for team members with a learning mindset, who can jump right in, make connections that are seemingly unrelated across products and experiences, and are excited to learn the ins and outs of commercial banking products and collaborate with cross-functional partners. You are an advocate for the user and the design process and care deeply about all the details because you know it's these details and moments that matter that enable great end-to-end experiences. You embrace ambiguity and thrive in complexity.

In this role

You'll be the lead designer on the client onboarding experience, working closely with Product Managers to continue to improve and evolve the experience. You'll also partner closely with the other UX Manager on the online banking team to ensure we design a cohesive, consistent, and integrated experience across multiple touchpoints. You'll also grow and manage a team of designers.

Must haves
  • A strong portfolio of work exemplifying design leadership and expert-level UX/UI skills and ability to design and deliver human-centered design solutions
  • Experience leading successful collaboration at a strategic level with cross-functional partners, defining the product, experience, the problem and the process and leading teams towards a solution
  • Experience leading a product/product area and a team of designers, user researchers and content strategists to deliver great omni-channel digital experiences
  • An ability to clearly communicate, advocate for, and lead the design process strategically and with empathy and compassion, integrating the needs of the user, the business, and the team to deliver impactful designs.
  • Experience growing and managing designers through coaching, mentorship and collaboration
  • Experience facilitating design workshops, team meetings, and cross-functional partners

Nice to haves
  • 10+ years of experience designing digital products and experiences
  • Experience designing products in the financial services industry
  • Experience leveraging and contributing to design systems and style guides
  • Knowledge of Figmaand other tools for generating low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes, as well as JIRA for partnering with developers, and an understanding ofcurrent web technology capabilities and cross-device considerations
  • Bachelor's in Design, Information Architecture, HCI, or equivalent project/portfolio experience

What you'll do
  • Understand our customers, their experiences, and collaborate with user researchers and content strategists on the team to conduct user research, integrate insights, feedback, and guidelines.
  • Guide teams and participate in defining research goals and research plans, conducting interviews, writing research questionnaires, producing usability tests and compiling research results to synthesize inputs into solutions
  • Guide teams to create prototypes that showcase design concepts and interaction patterns at various levels of fidelity. Ensure that designs are aligned with business, stakeholder, and end user priorities
  • Facilitate workshops to facilitate co-creation, alignment, and understanding among Product Managers, Engineers, UX designers, researchers and other cross functional stakeholders around business objectives, needs, and constraints. Ensure that a user-centered design approach is understood, adopted, internalized and effectively leveraged
  • Partner with lead Product Manager to plan and execute a feature and experience roadmap in a way that balances the need to execute a design process with the need to deliver given requirements and timeline
  • Communicate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences at varying levels of the organization with minimal conflict and complications between collaborative and cross-functional personnel
  • Provide guidance to UI/UX style guides to support core brand look and feel and help ensure designs stay on-brand and on-trend. Organize design assets and outputs to effectively contribute to the SVB Design System.
  • Contribute to the success and team dynamic with leadership, direction, and mentorship to elevate the design skills of overall UI/UX and graphic design teams
  • Use strong storytelling and presentation skills to communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of human-centered design process in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including product ideation and definition, UX design, and user research, detailed design, and optimization
  • Provide insights to the product development team and document user goals, needs, motivations and pain points through user personas, use cases, and experience maps. Make recommendations to improve the user experience and create new concepts to bring those recommendations to life.
