Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business.Are you ready for your next career challenge?The Defense Group at Leidos, supporting the Medium/Overload Unmanned Surface Vessel (OMUSV) Program, is seeking a Master with a USCG 500 Tons Oceans or greater license to support a dynamic high growth organization. The O/MUSV program is based in Port Hueneme, CA, and is responsible for delivering cutting edge autonomous vessel technology to the US Navy. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future.The Master has overall responsibility for the safe operation and navigation of the vessel, the safety of the crew and cargo, and executing vessel missions as assigned by naval authorities. Master will be responsible for maintaining all required logs and reports, and for complying with all port/state, class, and SMS rules and regulationsDuties include responsibility for the material condition of the vessel, training of crew, and consulting with operators and owners on various vessel tasking. Provides professional maritime expertise and leadership responsibility. Crew will work rotating shifts of approximately 28 days, while on rotation crew should expect to work more than 40-hours per week.Primary Responsibilities
Report to Port Captain for pier side and afloat USV operations.
Take overall responsibility for navigation of the vessel and all facets of operation
Participate in advanced seamanship duties as required.
Assist in preparation, preservation, and cleanliness of assigned vessel, and any associated equipment.
Coordinate and assist in pre/post mission craft readiness functions.
Overall responsibility for vessel security and visitor control function.
Participate in Leidos and Government safety programs.
This position will require close cooperation and working relationships with active-duty military and other Government personnel.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Basic Qualifications
USCG Merchant Mariner credentials: Master 500Tons Oceans with corresponding STCW Certificates
Position requires the ability to perform in an arduous duty environments.
Requires a BS Degree and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
Ability to lift 40lbs
Individuals must possess the ability and demeanor to share common spaces over lengthy deployment periods and work closely with others in a small working area and in a shipboard environment
Must be able to communicate effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working aboard US Government vessels
Pay Range:Pay Range $97,500.00 - $176,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
