Position Title: Mechanical Engineer (Junior) – Contract (40 hours per week)

Location: Fremont, CA – onsite only

Length of Contract: 6-12 months, contract to hire. Client will likely want to CONVERT, so please screen for this.

Ideal Start Date: 12/5/2022

Process: First round interview will be 30-minute screen with hiring manager, second round will likely be onsite for 1.5-2 hours with 2-3 team leads in the Interior Design Engineering group.

Scope: Client is dealing with pressing deadlines and heavy bandwidth issues around some new feature upgrades they are implementing and deploying. Client was approved for up to 6 spots here, need a ton of extra hands in order to execute design upgrades in their Interior Design Engineering Group. Candidate will be responsible for design, release and launch of vehicle components for several of the newer models being released. Areas of focus will be around Door Trim Panels and Hard Trim. Ideal candidate will utilize their mechanical design and mechanical engineering expertise in one or more of these commodities and work with a lean and agile team of the best automotive engineers in the industry.

Duties/Responsibilities:Along with Client’s global vehicle engineering team, you will locally release and launch interior components and subsystems which are aligned with program product profile with responsibilities that include:• Manage BOM and develop CAD designs to achieve interior system targets for luxury, function, reliability, cost, and weight• Lead engineering and process design optimization with the appropriate analytical and physical assessments• Utilize DFSS methodologies as appropriate during the validation and launch of current and new programs • Collaborate with cross functional teams within the Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure interior system manufacturing and assembly feasibility and serviceability, and ensure competitive supplier manufacturing, quality, and pricing• Responsible for utilizing product engineering processes such as DFMEA and technical documentation - DVP&R and ensure supplier manufacturing quality control plans are executed accordingly• Responsible for Process Validation (PV) Plan creation and execution of Components under your responsibility• Analyze Field Reliability data to improve Interior Reliability through design/process/manufacturing changes, either locally or as support for global improvements• Interact and coordinate component/system Validation with Reliability Team and Testing group. Follow up on Jig/fixture creation/validation for components under your responsibility• Support the homologation team for relevant component approval (e.g., CCC, GB testing)

Necessary Skills/Requirements:• 2-3 years of experience would be ideal but will also entertain candidates currently working towards a BS, MS, or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechatronics.• Proficiency designing in CATIA 3D CAD Software- this is the primary tool they use• Experience creating engineering drawings (GD&T experience is a plus).• Proven interest in mechanical design engineering through extracurricular activities, academic projects, passion projects, or equivalent experiences (proven automotive or sustainability interest is a plus).• Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals.• Eagerness to collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams while able to work independently; detail-oriented and execution focused.• Genuine curiosity and willingness to understand how our products are designed, built and how they operate.
