Description Medical Coding Role in Daly City seeking medical coding experience! Robert Half's healthcare client is seeking medical coders for a direct hire or temp-to-hire, interviewing asap. Apply today! The Medical Coder will primarily be responsible for conducting chart reviews and coding audits. This entails evaluating the accuracy of ICD-10 diagnoses codes, as well as CPT and HCPCS procedure codes associated with patient evaluations and management. Additionally, the role involves supporting pre- or post-payment coding audits to establish benchmarks and recover reimbursements. Other duties include conducting pre-appointment chart audits for HCC or risk adjustment, managing appeals for denied claims, and providing guidance or education to healthcare providers to enhance documentation specificity in alignment with coding guidelines and regulatory standards.Key Responsibilities:

Conduct pre-appointment HCC or risk adjustment chart reviews, coding audits, and related projects.

Serve as an internal resource for coding inquiries from various departments, including providers, Billing, Laboratory, and Radiology.

Offer real-time coding consultation and assess documentation to enhance coding practices.

Provide training to providers and Billing staff on the usage of ICD-10 codes.

Facilitate appropriate documentation through queries to providers.

Equip Billing staff with coding and documentation information essential for claim processing.

Stay updated on coding guidelines, standards, and annual updates to ensure compliance.

Communicate code changes effectively to relevant departments.

Review and revise coding policies and procedures as necessary.

Assign suitable ICD-10 and CPT codes to patient encounters as required.

Support Revenue Cycle manager and billing staff on technical projects.

Act as a resource for providers regarding medical documentation inquiries.

Perform additional job duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Completion of an AA or AS degree.

Possession of AAPC or AHIMA credential such as CPC, CPC-P, CPMA, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P.

Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare, particularly in HCC or risk adjustment, health information, chart audit, medical coding, or billing.

Prior coding experience highly preferred.

Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, CPT, ICD-10, clinical documentation, or medical billing processes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.

Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience in an FQHC or community health center setting is desirable.

Language Skills:

Proficiency in spoken, written, and reading English is required.

Fluency in other languages is considered an asset.
