Medical Collections Specialist

Description A Medical Center in Reseda is in the need of a Medical Collections Specialist. The Medical Collections Specialist will be responsible for calling insurance companies to resolve unpaid and rejected claims. The Medical Collections Specialist must have 2+ years of experience in the healthcare industry. Duties:

Follow up with insurance companies via phone and via web portal.

Reviews records for outstanding and unpaid claims to determine collection activities and processes.

Contacts payor sources to determine status of payments and to assure timely payments of claims.

Assures all deadlines are met and all collections are timely and effectively pursued.

Maintains records and prepares reports as requested in a timely manner.

Submits timely appeals and follows up on claims at various stages of collection process.

Documents all collection efforts per company policies/procedures.

Attends and participates in in-services and staff meetings and continues to acquire knowledge of collections processes, billing systems, practices and policies.

Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner.

Hospice is a plus.
