Job Description

Medical Communications is a department within Medical Affairs with responsibility over development of scientific resources and tools for the Medical Science Liaison team and Medical Affairs leadership, coordination of the medical education grants and sponsorships program, and congress planning and support. The candidate will report to the Senior Director of Medical Communications with an initial focus on oversight of the medical education grant program and congress planning management. This role will provide an outstanding opportunity to work in a cross-functional environment. Strong computer and communication skills, attention to detail, and the demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and manage projects are essential to success.

This role may be considered Alameda based or Remote.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the oversight and administration of the Exelixis Grants and Giving Portal (GGP), the portal for submission of medical education grant and sponsorship requests. This includes management of the Grants Coordinator for the program and the following:o Triage incoming grant requests for relevance and appropriateness based on the approved Grants Plan and the Grants SOPo Manage Grant committee meetings, including development of agenda, presentation of requests for consideration, and documentation of the outcomeso Evaluate final CME program content for quality, accuracy, and bias for supported programso Review and evaluate outcome reports and financial reconciliation for supported programso Management and reconciliation of annual grant budgeto Manage CME vendor relationships

Manage congress planning activities, including:o Exhibit design and creation in partnership with exhibit vendoro Development of congress materials and resourceso Management and reconciliation of congress budget

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education: Doctorate level degree (PharmD, PhD) with at least eight years of related experience; or, Master’s level degree in related discipline and ten years of related experience; or, Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Oncology/hematology or immunology experience preferred 3-5+ years’ experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical and/or Medical Communication industry Medical Communications and/or CME grant management experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills: Well spoken, confident, enthusiastic, and positive can-do attitude Exceptional work ethic, detail oriented, and organizational, time, and project management skills Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills in support of work with a range of internal and external cross-functional partners Ability to foster relationships, build alignment, negotiate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and vendors Ability to take direction and then work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point, and experience with a grant submission portal a plus. Working knowledge of legal and regulatory guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry, focused mainly on CME and congress activities Innovative and creative skills in the development of resources to present data, information, and concepts in a visually effective and educational manner Occasional travel is required, including some weekends Candidate may be headquarters-based or remote
