Correctional Officers role model pro-social behavior and provide guidance to adults in custody in order to prepare them for reentry into their communities. You will work with a team to ensure adults in custody have a safe and secure environment to participate in programs and rehabilitation.

Correctional Officers are not required to have relevant education or experience – the department will provide a 7-week academy to prepare you to excel in this role. Our ideal candidates exhibit the following attributes: Empathy, Humanity, Respect, Responsibility, and Communication.

In order to be certified as a correctional officer you will need:

- High School Diploma or GED

- Valid Drivers License

- A US Citizen

- Being 21 or older

The hiring process includes:

- Aptitude testing

- A background investigation

- A physical

- A drug screen

- A psychological assessment
