The Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT Technologist is responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic procedures under the supervision of the Radiation Safety Officer and Physician. Assists Physicians with performing and viewing Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures by preparing and positioning patients for scanning; prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, and operates nuclear medicine instruments, nuclear medicine imaging equipment to include PET/CT imaging equipment. Responsible for using radiation safety practices and performing the required quality control procedures on all nuclear medicine and CT equipment. Procedures performed include preparation, administration, documentation and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals with strict adherence to the principles of radiation safety, the conditions of the Radioactive Materials License and all California State and Federal regulatory requirements. Assists staff with providing care to patients, who have been administered radiopharmaceuticals and the safe and appropriate disposal of radioactive waste. Maintains own clinical competency and mandatory requirements.

This is a Full-Time (80 hours per pay period, 4 ten-hour shifts) Varied Day Shift position and requires flexibility of scheduling throughout the week, including weekends. Located at the Scripps Shiley Pavilion in La Jolla.New Hire Incentive available up to $8,000 for those who qualify.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the followingcriteria must be met:

  • Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offerletter)
  • Must remain in original department/specialty
  • Must remain in original Job Title
  • Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis andmay result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically notedin your offer letter.

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Completion of a formal training/educational program in an AMA/JCERT approved school of Radiology Technology.
  • Imaging experience in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Required Certification/Registration:

  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist)
  • CDPH CTNM (California Department of Public Health – Certified Technologist Nuclear Medicine)
  • CRT (Certified Radiology Technician)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Nuclear Med Technician
  • Knowledge of patient focused care delivery
  • Experience operating a CR X-Ray machine
  • Knowledge of Rubidium Isotopes
