Position Title: Opto-Mechanical Systems Architect Location: Dublin, CA – initial ramp-up period onsite, and then manager is comfortable with 50/50 remote flexibility (onsite 2-3 days per week) -

Local Candidates Highly preferredDuration: 6-9 months, then possible extensionIdeal Start Date: ASAP – 9/21/20Position is 40 hours per week – see above. Initially onsite until candidate is ramped up then can be 50% offsite.Process: Manager is urgent so will try to move quickly. First round will be directly with hiring manager - can be available later this week or next after Labor Day. Second round will take place within 2-3 days after phone interview and will be Skype/Webex/Teams interview with manager and possibly Director.Focus: Ideal candidate is an Opto-Mechanical engineer who has prior experience in an R&D, consumer product based environment – and someone who has not just participated in the mechanical design phase, but has owned the entire project and understands the overall system. This engineer will not just be directing the client’s partners through the manufacturing process – this is a brand new R&D product that was just greenlit and only concepts exist at this point. This engineer will be operating in a very hands-on role for high-volume consumer devices and will be developing the prototype and taking the product from concept to production, needs to own the entire process.Necessary Skills:-Opto-Mechanical Engineering background - Experience in R&D, product driven environment – experience in high-volume consumer devices environment.-Must have understanding and knowledge of the entire system/architecture (NOT just knowing how to do the design and implementation, but understand the entire system as a whole). - Prior experience taking an product/R&D project from conceptualization all the way through production (I.e. Beginning-to-end of the product development cycle). Developing the prototype and operating in an extremely hands-on role while also directing the client’s partners through the development process as needed.-Strong SolidWorks experience-Experience/knowledge of using lab tools to performs measurements and assemblies. -Prior experience with technical documentation for a product – this typically involves a lot of risk (analysis, assessment, management, FMEA), as well as product verification and validation, and other documentation for quality (NOTE: Given that this company is in the medical/life sciences industry, writing good documentation for quality purposes is essential. We are looking for candidates with the willingness to write good and thorough technical documentation. If you’re a designer that doesn’t put much effort when writing documentation, this is NOT the job for you.Desired Skills:-Injection molding for optics is a huge plus-Prior experience in a medical device company a huge plus, technical documentation within med. Device as mentioned above will be hugely helpful-Prior experience with Medical Device Standard IEC 60601-1-Familiarity with bio-capability standards, ISO 10933-Any hands-on Risk Management and Product Safety for Medical Device Experience
