Description We are partnering with a Sacramento-based Civil Litigation Defense Firm to source an experienced paralegal to support a firm partner in hybrid litigation secretary functions. This contract-to-hire position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive civil litigation experience, preferably in civil litigation defense or insurance defense litigation.Key Responsibilities:
Independently manage an active caseload, supporting a firm partner.
Coordinate depositions, site inspections, hearings, and other case meetings.
Draft, proo, and finalize legal documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
File documents with California Superior and Federal Courts, including e-filing.
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other involved parties.
Maintain accurate case documentation and manage electronic files using legal management software.
Provide comprehensive administrative support, including managing correspondence, dictation, and briefing tasks.
Coordinate travel arrangements as needed.
Utilize Microsoft Excel for billing and calendar management.
Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and preparing witnesses.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, Paralegal, or in a similar role within civil litigation.
Strong background in civil litigation, with experience in personal injury defense or insurance defense preferred.
Proficiency in legal research and case management tools, such as LexisNexis.
Familiarity with California Superior Court and Federal Court procedures, including e-filing.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience with billing functions and legal documentation management.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment, on-site in Sacramento, CA
