Patient Staff Assistant - Baldwin Park - Temporary Full Time

Job Summary:Under direct supervision, performs routine nursing unit duties following established procedures, standards and policies. Essential Responsibilities:

Patient/Member Care.

Obtain patient specimens.

Feed patients requiring assistance.

Check food trays for accuracy.

Deliver food trays to patients.

Heat and serve patient meals.

Replenish water and ice in patient rooms.

Records and Patient Information.

Direct members to appropriate department.

Chart patient data such as vital signs and nutrition intake.

Enter data into automated systems.

Assist patients with personal correspondence needs.

Open and distribute mail.

File patient data.

Equipment and Instruments.

Rinse and clean instruments and equipment.

Arrange for equipment repair.

Maintain clean work area, and department equipment.

Transportation. Accompany patients on outside activities.

Transport patients to/from designated areas.

Route specimens to laboratory.

Transport laboratory specimens, medical records, laboratory supplies and material, office supplies and materials, patient-related supplies and materials, equipment, food trays, and procedure trays.

Materials and Supplies.

Order supplies.

Maintain and supply patients with hygiene and leisure items.

Replenish bed linen and sanitary supplies.

Administrative and Other.

Demonstrate safety procedures.

Answer nurses station telephones.

Answer telephones and take messages.

Locate personnel by paging system or beeper.

Other Activities and Responsibilities. Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
