The Department of Pharmacy has over approximately 450 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services as well as outpatient services via 2 cancer centers and 3 outpatient pharmacies. We are committed to the education and training of pharmacists, students/interns, residents, technicians, and other health care professionals. We are affiliated with several Schools of Pharmacy and offers PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. The residency and student experiential programs at CSMC continue to grow with every successive year, where nearly 100 residents have graduated from the PGY1 pharmacy residency program since 1985 and more than 200 student rotations are offered at CSMC annually.The Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Pharmacist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California will assist in the daily organization and supervision of medication management activities in their area including, but not limited to, provision of clinical services and other patient care activities. These activities may include, but are not limited to, serving as an antimicrobial-related drug information resource for Pharmacy and Medical Staff and attending clinical rounds. The AMS Pharmacist is also responsible for the development and implementation of antimicrobial-related programs designed to promote rational and cost-effective use of antimicrobials and prevent antimicrobial resistance. The AMS Pharmacist will work in close collaboration with other Pharmacy Staff, Medical Staff, including the Division of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Epidemiology, and the Microbiology Laboratory.The AMS Pharmacist takes initiative to continually learn and maintain clinical and regulatory knowledge.The AMS Pharmacist will be involved in educating pharmacy residents and students and may have additional educational opportunities for both Pharmacy and Medical Staff.Staffing is required 1 weekend per month in the inpatient area.This position is a hybrid role. Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy in the USA.

Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent practice experience. PGY2 in Infectious Disease or Antimicrobial Stewardship is preferred

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.

BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure

Demonstrated competency in infectious diseases, antimicrobial therapy.

Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage.

Comprehensive knowledge of common disease states and pathologies.

Ability to comprehend patient medical management plans.

Ability to assess and apply current pharmacological and biopharmaceutical principles for the selection and use of drug products in a clinical setting.

Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient or other sources and relate it to the patient care plan.

Ability to teach and serve as preceptor for training programs.

Ability to provide recommendations and monitor the use of drugs in medical emergencies.

Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards relative to Health-System Pharmacy.

Ability to adapt to and prioritize work flow.

Ability to evaluate medication regimen to meet the therapeutic needs of patients.

Ability to learn and adapt to the use of automated information systems in daily practice.

Demonstrated competency in sterile compounding if working in the area, pharmaceutical calculations, compounding and pharmacokinetics.

Possesses experience in managed care principles from a health plan or PBM perspective.
