Role : Platform Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid) - W2 Candidates Only

Job DescriptionThe Platform Engineer is responsible for building and delivering platform services to the Bank including server, storage, virtualization, cloud, and collaboration technologies. As a member of the infrastructure engineering team, the role requires close collaboration with teammates across the technology organization to deliver solutions that are fit for purpose and meets overall quality standards. Develops, integrates, and implements custom and packaged solutions to achieve business goals. Leverages internal client relationships to resolve complex support issues. Provides quality support for Windows and Linux enterprise servers, virtualization, cloud and other enterprise technologies with a focus on infrastructure platform services.

Major Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain a Virtual Server Infrastructure (VMware) including procedures for routine administration, including backup/restore, allocation, archival, shutdown, and startup processes.
  • Develop hardened Windows Servers and Linux images for automated deployment.
  • Support and maintain Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Design, test, implement, and manage IT service continuity.
  • Develop solutions to ensure the support of defined RTOs and RPOs.
  • Provide third-tier support to servers and infrastructure applications. May interact with network services, application teams, or vendors to restore service and correct the core problem.
  • Responsible for the server systems life cycle including testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the environment.
  • Update and maintain Server and Platform documentation.
  • Perform capacity and performance management based on business needs and IT infrastructure growth capacity. Facilitate the development of policies to ensure that existing capacity is being used efficiently.
  • Facilitate the development of patching and version management policies to allow the Operations team to perform monthly security patch and version management on all IT infrastructure.
  • Develop strategies for the TIS solutions using current and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in the establishment of department goals and for implementing procedures and performance standards to achieve these goals.
  • Perform ad hoc responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a corporate server support environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a financial services organization preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with ITIL and ITSM standards.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting Microsoft solutions like Desired State Configuration (DSC), Group Policies, O365.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, and AWS Cloud.
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting (PowerShell).
  • Knowledge and experience with automation tools like Terraform, Bitbucket, Chef and Jenkins.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills specific to both technical and business audiences.
  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure, either independently or as a member of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others to achieve results.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
